A Soldier’s Prayer
The page Written in by my Grandfather
Whilst looking through the loft I found an old book of Common Prayer. As I had mislaid mine I asked my Mum if I could have it thinking it was my Father’s.
On closer examination I found the entry above to be written by my paternal Grandfather Lewis Roworth. I knew that he had been in the First World War in the Manchester pals and had been a prisoner of war and made to work down a coal mine. The entry confirmed this and led me to find out a little more about how he was captured. To see the full story see this link.
